5 Tips to Lose 10 Pounds in 2 Weeks
Looking to drop weight in a hurry? Well, obviously you’ll need to make some changes, but the good news is it’s nowhere near as hard as you’ve been led to believe. Read on for 5 simple but highly effective ways to lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks!
Be first in line
Eating out with family or friends? Make sure you’re the first to order. Studies have shown that our meal choices match those of the people we eat with, so for the next couple of weeks avoid being tempted to go with the crowd by ensuring you’re first to order.
Look for something high in protein (but not fried) to keep feeling full, and avoid dressings and dips packed with calories like ranch or mayo. A terrific option to keep things tasty while keeping your diet on track are most hot sauces and salsas, which typically have very few (and often zero) calories.
You’ll also want to steer clear of any foods that are high in simple carbs, because we’re going to…
Keep your carbs low
If you really want to hit the ground running with your weight loss, then restricting carbs is an excellent start. For the next two weeks, keep your daily net carb intake under 20g per day.
To calculate net carbs, look for carbohydrates on the nutrition label, then subtract Dietary Fiber & Sugars, both of which should be listed directly under it. You’ll find that simple carbs, like those from soda or white breads and pastas are going to be off limits for a while.
Why are we avoiding these? A couple of reasons. First, simple carbs spike your insulin levels which also causes a nearly irresistible increase in your appetite. And we’ve all felt how frustrating it can be when you’re fighting a seemingly losing battle against hunger.
Second, your body also gets glucose from these simple carbs. When your body does NOT get this glucose, it begins to burn your body’s stores of fat instead. So by keeping these mostly out of your body, you turn yourself into an absolute fat burning machine.
Have sex every night
Who knew dieting could be so much fun? For the next two weeks, have sex every single night. It won’t just make life more enjoyable while you’re cutting out other areas; it will also reduce your stress which is heavily linked to weight gain.
Make sure you’re on top, and try not be shy. A half-hour lovemaking session burns between 150-200 calories, with the partner on top burning the most. Moaning adds an additional 18-30 calories, so don’t be afraid to show how much you’re enjoying your “exercise!”
Sleep 30 minutes more
Next time someone criticizes you for sleeping in just tell them it’s part of your diet! Just an extra 30 minutes of sleep a night will give you the extra energy and willpower you’ll need to avoid cheat foods and keep your carbs low. You’ll also reduce stress.
This is a particularly important step if you’re currently not getting enough sleep. Why? Getting less than 6 hours of restful sleep per night results in a much slower than normal metabolism, meaning your body burns significantly less calories each day.
If you’re already getting enough sleep, an extra 30 minutes of sleep per night will still increase your metabolism, so don’t skip this one — though I don’t know why anyone would ever say no to more sleep!
Drink water and water only
Alcohol? Packed with calories and simple carbs. Soda (including diet)? Packed with simple carbs. Even so-called health drinks like Gatorade and Vitamin Water come complete with tons of unwanted calories.
Stick to water and you’ll not only avoid the appetite increases the previously mentioned drinks cause, you’ll suppress your appetite. In addition, drinking water has been shown to have a positive affect on metabolism, meaning you’ll burn more calories naturally.
Need something more concrete? Researchers have found that those who drank 17oz (or about 2 glasses) of water 30 minutes before a meal lost an average of 9.48 pounds over just 12 weeks and increased their metabolism 30%! It’s an easy change to make, with proven big results.
Now that you know what needs to be done, the only thing left is to actually do it — and trust me, the results will be worth it! BTW, be sure to pin this so you can check back when you need a quick refresher in the future!
